ww2dbaseThe German 7.5 cm leichtes Infanteriegeschütz 18, or 7.5 cm le.IG 18 for short, were developed by the firm Rheinmetall beginning in 1927. The mountain gun variant design was soon developed; designed 7.5 cm le.GebIG 18, it had the capability to be broken down to six to ten parts for ease of transport, with the heaviest weighing 74.9 kilograms. In 1939, a small production of six guns were developed specifically for airborne units; they were designed 7.5 cm le.IG 18F, capable of breaking down to four parts weighing 140 kilograms each. Although they were not initially welcomed with enthusiasm as they were not perceived to be significantly better than their predecessors, these guns were used in all fronts that the Germans operated during the European War.Source: Wikipedia. ww2dbase
