this German corporal died at the same battle as my great-grandfather who was an artillery man. My Russian comrades used a lot of artillery to pound down on German offenses. Although this grave is very neat, i believe only high ranking dead Germans received this luxury.

Cpl. (in german Gefreiter) Heinz Kühl is my grandfather. He served in the heavy tank battalion 503/ Stab.
at 21.07.43 he should pose a armored ambulance wounded from the battlefield where the vehicle was destroyed by an artillery strike.

At the time this photo was taken, the Nazi's probably still believed they could defeat the Russians and could keep the land the grave is in. I'm no fan of the Russians in particular, but I'm glad they ended up in Berlin and played a huge role in pounding the Nazi's into the ground.

I felt compelled to comment about this picture of Cpl. Heinz Kuhl. May he rest in peace.
I noticed that the Germans took great effort to bury their dead. I wonder if there is anyway to find out more information about this man, such as what unit he was with and where&how he died.
