Wellington production at Chester Hawarden/Broughton peaked at 130 aircraft per month in 1942. This Wellington Mk.1C (the main production version of the Mk.1 with a crew of six and fitted with beam machine guns) would be a part of the batch of 550 ordered by Vickers and delivered between August 22, 1940 and June 1941. The Chester plant turned out 5,540 of the 11,461 Wellingtons built.

The Royal Air Force caption for this photo reads: “Wellington R1333, ‘The Broughton Wellington’, on 7th November 1940, with a novel ‘christening’ arrangement.”
