BY THE BOOK:

Warming the engines during cold weather months, was carried out by the ground crew
using portable heaters, blowing forced air around the engines this also kept the oil and other lubricants, coolants in there liquid state.

Heavy canvas covers would be placed over the engines and cockpit canopies hot air would also flow into the aircraft fuselage.

FILL'ER UP AND CHECK THE OIL:

Oil and fuel tanks would also be checked and topped off if necessary, ground personnel would use starter carts to charge the a/c batteries.
Oxygen bottles would be recharged and other equipment checked, standing by are fire extinguisher in case of emergency.
