Vivian Leigh and Laurence Olivier were married at the time. The actual christening was done by Mary Churchill, daughter of the Prime Minister, using a bottle of Coca-Cola. The naming of the aircraft was linked to the opening of a Stage Door Canteen in London along the lines of the Stage Door Canteen in New York’s theater district.
