Could you use unpublished photo's of IJN Warships? That is if you don't already have them. I just got a photo of the Nagato, the real photo that the person took of it in 1945 I'm thinking. Your site has great help on my modeling and general knowledge of that part of WW-2. My is a Marine who fought on the Island War.Thanks

Note the distinctive swept-back funnels, added in the mid-twenties to remove smoke from the foremasts, which can be seen here in the process of becoming the characteristic pagodas through the incremental addition of platforms. These curved funnels were removed completely in the 1930s modernization, however this trunking scheme became standard on cruisers.
