I would like to offer that the action posed in this photograph is in fact indicative of the loaded 8 rd enbloc clip being removed during the unloading procedure rather than being presented for the loading stage.

Note the poised left thumb position relative to the clip release 'button' on the receivers left side.

I have owned and operated three M1 Garand rifles and am familiar with it's function & specifically with the placement of both of the operators hands to both load and unload this type.

While I realize my comments may seem trivial they are given merely in the interests of clarifying the actual action taking place as photographed.
