- In Shanghai, China, after being overworked, recovering from malaria (and at times overdosing on Atabrine), and taking too much Benzedrine and sleeping pills to help him work and rest, Milton Miles began showing signs of psychosis. - In Korea, Lieutenant General John Hodge continued to refuse recognizing the leftist Korean People's Republic as a legitimate government.
