  • Adolf Hitler was named the Chancellor of Germany; three of the eleven cabinet posts were given to Nazi Party members. President Paul von Hindenburg required Vice Chancellor Franz von Papen to accompany Hitler for all meetings between the President and the Chancellor, thinking that would be sufficient to prevent Hitler from committing any drastic changes.
