  • The Japanese 7th Air Brigade, in two waves (the second consisting of Japanese Navy aircraft), launched a joint attack against an Allied target, successfully bombing installations in heavily defended Calcutta (now Kolkata), India. The Japanese airmen achieved surprise and enjoyed some luck, causing slight damage to Kiddapore docks and destroying or badly damaging nine Hurricane fighters and one Spitfire fighter. ww2dbase [Calcutta, Bengal | AC]
