ww2dbaseThe Type 26 revolvers, designed in 1893, were the first modern pistol of the Japanese Army. They were made at the Koishikawa Arsenal near Tokyo, Japan. They were designed for double-action only, thus they did not have hammer spurs. They were originally intended as sidearms for cavalrymen only, but they saw much wider use throughout the Russo-Japanese War, WW1, and WW2. Production lasted from 1893 until 1945, during which time 59,200 examples were made. 1,000 of them were exported to the French Army early on in its production life.
