ww2dbaseThe Japanese Army employed the Type 11 37-millimeter infantry support guns in 1922. These weapons were license-built French Canon d'Infanterie de 37 modèle 1916 TRP design (which was also adopted by the US Army as the M1916 guns) with modifications to suit Japanese requirements. They were typically each manned by a crew of 10, and four guns were typically assigned to support each infantry regiment. They had an effective range of 2,400 meters and a maximum range of 5,000 meters. Still in use by the time the war began in the 1930s, they were effective against the Chinese Army light tanks, armored cars, and machine gun positions, but they were already obsolete by then. Production ceased in 1937, and they were generally used as training weapons only.
