Type 2 Ke-To
Country | Japan |
Primary Role | Light Tank |
Contributor: C. Peter Chen
ww2dbaseType 2 Ke-To light tanks were developed in 1942 from the Type 98 Ke-Ni design, and together with the Type 98 they were meant to replace the Type 95 Ha-Go light tanks that were outclassed by American light and medium tanks. Production for the Type 2 Ke-To design was delayed until 1944, and largely due to the lack of raw materials, only 34 units were built by the end of the war. They were assigned to units stationed in the Japanese home islands in preparation for the Allied landings that never took place. None of them were ever used in combat.
