ww2dbaseC15TA armored trucks were developed by the firm General Motors Canada for the British war effort. They were built by marrying Chevrolet C15 CMP truck chassis and armored hulls made by Hamilton Bridge Company. They were used by British and Canadian troops in western Europe, Burma, and Malaya, serving in troop transport and ambulance roles. When the European War ended, the United Kingdom and Canada opted to leave some of them in Europe instead of transporting them back home, thus many of them served in post-war forces of Belgium, Denmark (with designation M6 Mosegris), the Netherlands, and Norway. Those left behind in Burma were transferred to the French forces in Vietnam, which were later used by South Vietnam. Those left behind in British Malaya were later given to local polices forces.
ww2dbaseAdditionally, Canada sold a number of C15TA vehicles to Spain and Portugal after the war.
ww2dbaseDuring the design's production life of 1943 to 1945, 3,961 examples were built, all of which were done so at the General Motors factory in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.
