Tessie,
I'm the grandson of a Spadefish sailor, all of the sailors aboard when the boat returned to Mare Island in 1945 received a copy of the ships logs, this was a arranged by one of the sailors bartering with the employees at Mare Island.
Are you a relative of a Spadefish sailor?

My father was on the Spadefish from the beginning to the end of WW 11. He, my mom, and I attended the commissioning of the new Spade in Newport News in the summer of 1969. He was involved in bringing some of the Spade crew together for other gatherings.
Those sailors did, or would, give their lives for our country. They were so brave AND devoted. I am so proud to have been the daughter of a submariner
