ww2dbaseDaly screened for carrier Ranger between 14 May and 21 Jun 1943 off Argentia, Newfoundland; a week later, she escorted carrier Lexington from New York to San Diego. Her next mission saw her escorting troop transports to the Aleutian Islands for the invasion of Kiska in Aug 1943. After arriving at Pearl Harbor in Nov 1943, she sailed for Milne Bay, New Guinea on 9 Dec, arriving 9 days later. In the South Pacific, she performed typical destroyer duties: anti-aircraft, escort, and naval gun support for ground troops. She participated in the invasion of Leyte in late 1944, and was involved in the Battle of Surigao Strait on 25-26 Oct. In Feb 1945 Daly screened for carriers off Iwo Jima, and in the next month she provided fire support for troops landing in Okinawa. She spent the last days of the war sailing off of the Chinese coast against Japanese shipping. She spent two months in Japan as part of the Allied occupation forces, and returned to San Diego on 6 Dec 1945.

ww2dbaseDaly was recommissioned in the 1950s during the Korean conflict, and sailed around all corners of the world on various missions. She was finally decommissioned on 2 May 1960, and was broken up for scrap.
