ww2dbaseGerman escort ship F10 was commissioned into service in 1938. She served the first year of her career in the Baltic Sea, and within days of the outbreak of the European War, she was sent to the Helgoland archipelago off Wilhelmshaven, Germany to operate as an escort vessel and a minelayer. She returned to the Baltic Sea in 1940, where she would remain until 1944, largely serving as a torpedo recovery vessel. In Jun 1944, she, as a member of Task Force Thiele, participated in a show of force off Aland, Finland as German ground troops were being withdrawn from Finland; the task force was centered around the heavy cruisers Prinz Eugen and Lützow and under the overall command of Vizeadmiral August Thiele. After the war, F10 was taken over by the United States. She was scrapped in 1950.
