ww2dbaseWilhelm Tranow was a WW1 veteran. In 1935, he broke British Royal Navy's 5-digit code. During WW2, he was the head of section IIIF of group III (also known as Beobachtungsdienst or B-Dienst) of the German Department of Naval Intelligence. Under his leadership, his section successfully intercepted and deciphered various British naval codes, leading to the successful interception of many Allied convoys.
