German He-111 over Warsaw in September 1939 with the invasion of Poland, started the Second World War.
Two weeks later the Soviet Union which had entered a nonaggression pact with Germany
also invaded Poland. By the end of the year
Nazi Germany and Communist Russia divided
Poland.
