This photograph is often captioned as being from President Roosevelt’s address to Congress on 8 Dec 1941 following the Pearl Harbor Attack (the “Day of Infamy” speech) but this is not likely. The FDR Library says this is not from Dec 1941 but from a State of the Union address in 1941 or 1942, most likely 1941. The 1941 State of the Union address was Roosevelt’s famous “Four Freedoms” speech.
