During my US Army service 1966 to 1970 my MOS was artillery. trained on the 105mm and 155mm Howitzer at Fort Sill, OK and later assigned to Germany from 11/66 to 9/67 and trained on the M-109, 155mm Self-Propelled Howitzer.

VIETNAM: ALL IN A DAYS WORK

Assigned to the 9th Infantry Div. in the Mekong Delta from 11/67 to 9/68 and served with a M-114, 155mm Towed Howitzer Battery.
Also had my hands on experience with the 8 inch M-110 and M-107, 175mm Self-Propelled Howitzers.

RETURN TO VIETNAM:

Arrived back "In Country" 6/69 and served with
(I FFV) I Field Forces Vietnam located in the Central Highlands until 4/70 assigned to a M-108
105mm Self-Propelled Howitzer Battery.
In Vietnam I had my hands on all types of weapons both allied and enemy. I served with the bravest group of men that I'll ever see again in my lifetime...

A SOLDIER NEVER FORGETS:

A decade later 1980 at a US Navy Air Show, the USMC had a battery of 105mm Towed Howitzers on display I looked over the Howitzer walked to the rear and started to field strip the breech block and put it back together again.
My younger brother looked on with amazement and just watched, The Marine ask me how long I've been out of the Corps. told him Sergeant, US Army Vietnam 1967 to 1970 with that he gave me a salute it was my first welcome home since my late parents and 17 year old brother hugged and kissed me in 1970 I also had a baby brother who was at the time three years old.
