It is interesting here to see the unique main gun. It is the 3in howitzer. Such a main gun could give tanks the fire support they needed against infantry and emplacements, since the 2lber that is common on early war tanks only shot solid rounds. However, the reality was that English tactical doctrine demanded that this tank only shoot Smoke rounds. Even though it would carry 4 or 5 HE rounds, it mainly carried the smoke rounds, which was far less effective than it could have been.
