Re.2005 prototype (M.M..494) parked in front of hanger at the test center at Centro Sperimentale Armamento at Guidonia. Three prototypes and 16 zero series pre-production aircraft by the end of 1942. All zero series Re.2005's plus 13 early production aircraft were completed by May of 1943.
