Note also the several reinforcing irons welded across the buckled deck sections for added strength before sailing across the Pacific.

it took them over a month to get the picture because it took 3 days to get back to Espiritu Santo where it sat until August 1 and then almost 3 weeks to get to Mare Island. The Pacific is big and she could not steam at much more than 15 knots if that. H---------She went into drydock (finally) on August 20). This picture would have been at pier 23 Mare Island just after she arrived.
