from War Diary of USS Bailey (DD-492) for January 31 1945:
"1615 Dumbo plane reported survivors in sight. Proceeded to vicinity; called away Rescue Party. 1639 sighted raft with two survivors. 1645 Took aboard Lieut. C.C. Taylor, USNR, of CASU 51, Ulithi, pilot, and Lieut. J.E. Nafstad, USNR, of ComNAB staff, Guam. passenger, all personnel of TBM 1 C. These officers, the tenth and eleventh aircraft personnel rescued by this vessel, were in good health after having been in the raft for over 24 hours after the plane ran out of fuel and was forced down on a ferry flight from Ulithi to Guam."
