This was the first complete balloon ballast dropping apparatus to be discovered. Note also the live cylindrical 5kg incendiary bombs and a few remaining ballast bags still attached to the ballast ring. The original Army caption concludes, “Note the good new Manila rope with which the apparatus was suspended from the bag. All balloons had this type of rope which was unobtainable in the U.S. during the war.”
