Cruiser Div. 5 was composed of the Chester, Salt Lake City
and the Pensacola. I was a radioman with the Admiral
on the Chester. I watched the firing from Mt. Suribachi,
hitting marine gun positions and landings.
The Pensacola was hit and had to retreat. The Chester
had to leave, the day after D-Day, for repairs because she
was rammed by an American ship the day before.
