Note the steel tusks attached to the front of the tank making this a Rhino tank. The tusks were used for penetrating the dense Normandy hedgerows. Some have included the Rhino tank among the Hobart’s Funnies but Percy Hobart did not develop this modification. These began as field modifications by armored division maintenance personnel in Normandy, often using steel from the German beach obstacles.

STRANGE BEDFELLOWS:
Some photograps are almost the same. GIs are covered by the M-4 Sherman.
Another photo shows German troops in almost the same position covered by a Panzer Mk IV.
