Hi - this photo is of Evelyn Hurford (Nee Turner). She was aged 19 at the time. She took the job to help her family who were struggling the effects of the Depression. She was one of the "best" welders at the time. Like many women of the day she was paid less then men doing the same work. She eventually quit because of wage discrimination.
