Saburo Sakai Imperial Japanese Naval Aviator Born August 25,1916 - Died September 22, 2000

Sakai was among 1,500 men that applied for naval flight training, 70 were selected, Sakai was one of them.
During the early months of the Pacific War, an unarmed transport was spotted, the pilot flew along side the transport seeing waving women and children.
Sliding his canopy back the pilot waved back, wobbled his wings and flew away. The pilot was none other than Saburo Sakai.

Tomorrow's battle is won during today's practice
