The Grayback is in drydock in this photo. The “white” wall beyond is the interior wall of the drydock. The lower rail is the rail of the drydock. The ship beyond is floating in the Napa River quite a bit higher than the Grayback. The ship is an amphibious attack transport, probably of the Haskell-class.
