As I was named after this ship in Sept. 1948 it was good to read about it's history. Mum and dad were expecting a girl and only had girls names picked out and when I appeared it threw a spanner in the works. When asked it was told to me that they had named me after this battleship but I never found out why. I assumed it was because it was in dock in Melbourne at the time of my birth but as it was decommissioned in Scotland some 19000 klms away and several months before I was born, it comes under the heading of impossible. I carry the name with pride none the less along with my fathers christian name as my middle name. It's great to learn the history.
