OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY:

What it cost the US Taxpayer, did you know the Royal Navy's Corsairs were given the deep six: Thrown overboard, tossed, discarded into the ocean, at the end of WWII. The UK couldn't pay for them they were broke! and lacked the means to pay for them.

The aircraft were Lend-Lease equipment and paid for by the US Taxpayer. The US Government should have had the aircraft returned. What a waste of fighters. Within a few years 1950 the US Navy and Marines could have used those Corsairs over Korea...

THE GREAT SCRAPPING FRENZY:

At the end of WWII billions of dollars worth of military equipment was scrapped or bulldozed into junk. That same aluminum junk, found its way back into civilian life as consumer goods in
post-war USA.

"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terrors. Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."
