GO NAVY!

Douglas SBD-3 pulling out of its dive, pilot has retracted its top wing spoiler dive flaps. Those flaps created a lot of drag and was difficult to control aircraft in level flight.

PEACETIME PRODUCTION:

585 models of the SBD-3 rolled off the production
line and were completed in March 1941, Douglas increased production to (25) aircraft per month.
During WWII production of the SBD would increase, and the USA was producing the weapons of war on a 24/7 schedule. Douglas at El Segundo produced the SBD-4 at (11) aircraft per day.

GO ARMY!

The A-24 DE Banshee were really Navy SBD-3's used by the US Army, they served in the Southwest Pacific and the Aleutians. Photo shows one of the 78 operated by the Army...
