In 1969-70 I was stationed in Berlin, at Andrews Barracks. At that time there were very few original buildings left, the pool and the main building just inside the gate. However, there was one barracks building, I went inside once to see what it was like. The tile floors were now dirt, but the paintings in the mess hall were in very good condition. They depicted men bayoneting, tanks running over men, explosions, carnage of war from floor to ceiling all the way around the room. The soldiers rooms had a skull and cross bones over the door with a number in it. I've regretted not taking pictures, I'm sure this evil part of the SS life was never recorded.
