I've visited Ouvrage Hackenberg several times and still marvel that the Commandant surrendered the facilies intact: weapons, ammunition & resources.
At the very least he should have sabotaged everything that would be of use to Jerry instead of being a good soldier and following orders to handover the largest Maginot Line facility intact.
Jerry used Ouvrage Hackenberg to harrass US Army Forces with accurate fire requiring the Americans to do what the French hadn't.
