FESTIVAL de CANNES:
HERE I AM IN CAEN FRANCE, I WANTED TO ATTEND THE FIRST FILM FESTIVAL IN SEPTEMBER 1939, BUT JERRY HAD DIFFERENT IDEAS. I'LL BE BACK FOR THE 1946 FILM FESTIVAL.
Our British Tommy has been issued the new Mk.III "Turtle Helmet" It was an improvement over the older Mk.II "Tin Hat" it offered better protection from the side and rear.
Uniform of the day, is standard battledress jacket and pants design were issued in the late 1930s, short canvas leggings or gaiters were bloused into the pants.
Our Tommy is armed with the Lee-Enfield,SMLE No.4,.303 Caliber Rifle with a fixed box magazine, that held ten rounds. 17,000,000 rifles were produced and it was the standard infantry rifle from 1895 to 1957.
Today, Canadian Rangers as of 2011 still use the Lee-Enfield No.4, the weapons have been accurized.
