STATESIDE TRAINING:
P-39s were used to train stateside fighter pilots
and at the same time USAAF P-39s were fighting the Japanese in the Pacific along with the Curtiss P-40 until the later P-51 Mustangs and P-47 Thunderbolts arrived.

Red border around National Insignia dates this between 28-Jun-1943 and 14-Sep-1943 (red border only lasted three-and-a-half months).
