SBD-3 GUNNER WAS ARMED W/TWIN-MOUNTED .30 CALIBER (7.62MM) MACHINE GUNS W/RATE OF FIRE OF 2400 ROUNDS PER MINUTE.
LOOKS LIKE THOSE ORDNANCEMEN ARE HOLDING ABOUT 300 ROUNDS, ANYWAY, THAT'S MY GUESS.
YOU WOULD'T BELIEVE THOSE (30.06) 7.62MM BELTS ARE HEAVY, THEY ARE A 250 A ROUND BELT IS ALMOST 14 LBS, AND A 1000 ROUND BELT IS 54 LBS.
THE WEAPONS HAD OPPOSING FEED SYSTEMS LOADED FROM LEFT AND RIGHT, FED BY A CLOTH BELT, LATER REPLACED WITH A DISINTEGRATING METAL LINK. THE DOUGLAS SBD-3 ENTERED PRODCTION MARCH 1941.
