Majuro Feb 1944. Too many trees for Ulithi.

Anonymous (above):
I don’t know about trees at Ulithi, but I have to concur that this is Majuro based on a strikingly similar US Navy photo dated Apr 1944 at Majuro (80-G-300909). Apr 1944 is wrong because Iowa was at sea the entire month and another source says Iowa was repainted in Measure 22 (two-tone gray) in Feb 1944, probably during this stay at Majuro. Based on all of this, I believe this photo was more likely taken at Majuro than Ulithi, trees or no trees. The caption information has been changed and thank you for offering your comment.

Note also that Iowa is under way in this photo rather than at anchor, as evidenced by the flag flying from her aftermast rather than her flagstaff on the fantail and the absence of the jack on the jackstaff (the chain seen descending from the bow is not an anchor chain but the smaller paravane chain).
