ww2dbaseBluie West Six was a radio and weather station located at the village of Thule (Dundas) in northwestern Greenland, established by the US Army in 1943. After WW2, in the summer of 1946, a gravel airstrip was added, as well as a balloon observatory. The station came under joint US-Danish operation, with Canadian involvement as well. The main portion of the station then moved from the village to mainland Pittufik. Today, the facility is known as Thule Air Base, operated by the United States Air Foce.
