ww2dbaseThe P.119 design was headed up by Giovanni Casiraghi of Italian aircraft manufacturer Piaggio starting in 1939. It was fairly innovative, calling for the engine to be mounted mid-fuselage, which moved the center of gravity to the center of the aircraft for better maneuverability and provided more space for nose-mounted armament. The layout was kept as simple as possible and many parts were standard Piaggio parts, for the ease of manufacturing and logistics should the design enter production. In Dec 1942, the all-metal prototype aircraft took its first flight. The prototype went through various tests through the first half of 1943. The Italian surrender in mid-1943 brought the P.119 project to an end.

It certainly was a fast plane eh? In other order of ideas, i'd like to suggest a "Random Article" button or menu option, it'd be nice.
