ww2dbaseThe Model 187 design was based on that of Model 167, with deeper fuselage and more powerful engines. Like the Model 167, the new design was to be sold to the French but the entire production was diverted to Britain when France surrendered in 1940. When the Royal Air Force took over the contract, the aircraft were designated Baltimore bombers. 1,575 were built during the design's production life, and all were earmarked for British and Commonwealth forces under the Lend-Lease Program, although a number were given to Greece and post-1943 Allied Italy from the RAF. The last Baltimore bomber was retired from service on 23 Dec 1949.
