ww2dbaseThe C-0101 twin-engine transport aircraft design was completed by the engineer Lin Tonghua between 1942 and Aug 1944. The first aircraft took flight over Chongqing, China in Oct 1944, two months after the completion of the design, with pilot Li Xingtang in the cockpit. The official designation of C-0101 was given after the successful operational flight from Chongqing to nearby Taipingsi Airport in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China in Nov 1944. The design represented China's first domestically designed transport aircraft. The C-0101 design used mostly wood and canvas for weight and cost savings purposes. Discussions were held on creating a bomber variant for the transport design, but none such militarized version were ever built. The C-0102 variant was designed with further weight reduction in mind, but it also had a smaller passenger/cargo capacity; the prototype C-0102 variant aircraft took its first flight after the war in Feb 1948.
