ww2dbaseThe BV 141 tactical reconnaissance aircraft were designed in response to the 1937 German Air Ministry's request for a single-engined aircraft dedicated to the reconnaissance role. The design, drafted by Dr. Richard Vogt of Blohm & Voß, was unique. The BV 141 aircraft were asymmetrical. The fuselages of the aircraft resided on the port side of the aircraft, while the much shorter gondola structures were mounted on the starboard side to house the crew. The design allowed a much greater field of view than conventional reconnaissance aircraft, while flight characteristics were deemed very stable even though the aircraft were asymmetrical. Orders to produce a total of 38 aircraft were given, but ultimately they never entered operational status.

STRANGE PLANES:
In 1944 Blohm & Voss BV P 194 was another drawing board project that never went into production.
It was a proposed single-seat multi-role aircraft
for the Luftwaffe.
Armed with 2 x 20mm cannons w/500 rounds per gun
and 2 x 30mm cannons w/140 rounds per gun, as a ground attack aircraft, it could also carry bombs
SLAPPED TOGETHER: ASYMMETRIC DESIGN
The BV P 194 would use many different components and other off the shelf assemblies. Powered by
1 x BMW 801 air-cooled propeller-driven radial engine that was used in the Focke-Wulf FW190 fighter, Me 262 engine nacelle, 1 x Jumo 004 Turbojet engine, Ju188 fuselage, wings and tail along with other aircraft assemblies.
ASYMMETRIC DESIGN:
Design that placed the fuselage and engine off to
one side of the wing, and counterbalanced it with a separate nacelle
